Fred Seitz has been raising horses in Central Kentucky since 1974. A graduate of St. Vincent College with a BA in English, he was a Marine Corps Aviator and a Vietnam Veteran.
Beginning as a farm manager, Fred then worked for Fasig-Tipton for 2 years before going out on his own by leasing a farm. He bought the beginning acreage of Brookdale in 1983.
A licensed trainer, he has trained four stakes winners and 3 stakes-placed horses from 2005-2010.
He is a past Kentucky Farm Manager of the Year, President of the Thoroughbred Club of America, President of the Ky. Thoroughbred Assoc., Officer and Trustee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Assoc., founding Trustee of the Horse Farm Workers Educational Assistance Fund, current Director of the Keeneland Association, and former Chairman of the Board of Lexington Catholic High School. Besides Joe and Freddy, active at Brookdale, Fred and his wife Peppe have 3 daughters, Helen McRoberts, Jane Ester and Marianna Seitz.
Joe has been with Brookdale full time since 1997. He graduated from Marquette University with a degree in journalism. After college, he spent four years in the Marine Corps. Joe then spent some time as a racetrack groom and assistant trainer before returning to Brookdale. He now acts as Director of Sales for Brookdale. Joe and his wife Vanessa have four children, Monica, Katie, Will and Rosie.
Freddy served in the U.S. Marine Corps from ’94-’98. He then worked at Santa Anita Park for trainer Randy Bradshaw. He came back to work for Brookdale in 1999. Freddy is the Yearling Manager, handles Advertising, and is the Vet assistant. Freddy and his wife Sarah have two children, Claire and Frederick.
Executive Assistant Sally Lockhart was born and raised in County Wexford, Ireland, where she was a leading junior three day event rider. She came to Kentucky in 1986 to join Brookdale and has been with the farm ever since. She and her husband, Jimmie, are both actively involved in the horse business. They are the breeders of Grade II winner Statesmanship & multiple stakes winner Haunted Lass. Sally and Jimmie have 2 children.
Stacey is a graduate of the Equine Industry Program from the University of Louisville. She has been an avid equestrian for over 15 years and has competed at the national level. Prior to joining Brookdale, Stacey worked at the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games in the finance department.
Louis was raised in Shelbyville, Kentucky, where he worked at the family farm until college. His equine career began in 1984 at Airdrie Stud, near Midway, Kentucky. He joined Brookdale in 1986 as a yearling groom. He now manages the farm and is a member of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers Club. Louis and his wife Sheri have two children: Lauren and Alex.
Assistant Farm Manager Victor Espinoza grew up in Lagos de Moreno, a small town in Jalisco, Mexico. His initial involvement with horses was through a small family breeding and training operation in Mexico. He came to the United States in 1982 and worked for three years on different racetracks and saddlebred farms. Victor joined Brookdale in 1985. He and his wife Edith have three children: Elias, Angelica and Antonio.
