Can I send photocopies of my horse’s Coggins or EVA?

No, Keeneland will now only accept original copies, no photocopies or faxed copies.  Some labs only send a printed version of the EVA results, which Keeneland does allow.

I have sold with Brookdale before, do I need to complete another Authorized Agent Form?

Yes, you need to complete an Authorized Agent Form for every sale.  You will also need to complete a new form even if we have sold/entered the same horse before.  Please list every horse by registered name or by sire/dam and year of birth.

What Property Line do I need to put on my Authorized Agent Form?

The Property Line you use is the one that appears on the catalogue page.  If you cannot find it or do not know it, please leave this area blank and we will complete it for you.

Do I need to get my Authorized Agent Form notarized?

Yes, this is an agreement that states that you are authorizing Brookdale Sales to sell a horse for you.  Please give yourself plenty of time to visit a notary.

My vet is taking radiographs of my horse for the sale, when can they take them?

For most sales, the repository window is 21 days from the date of sale.  The exception is the January Mixed Sale, which is 15 days from the date of sale.  If you are unsure if you can take x-rays or not, please contact us.

My vet took radiographs of my horse, what do I do now?

Please find out from your vet if they are turning the x-rays in directly to Keeneland.  If so, please let us know and have the vet turn in their findings with the x-rays.  If not, please have them send the x-ray disc and findings to us so that we may turn them in on your behalf.

Why does Brookdale/Keeneland need my vet’s findings?

All x-rays discs must be submitted to Keeneland with a vet findings report.  The report is stamped and returned back to the consignor.  Keeneland keeps a copy for their records that is not viewable to anyone but Keeneland; this provides them documentation in the event an issue arises regarding x-rays.  For more information on this, please visit the Consignor’s and Breeder’s Association website.

What do I need to send with my horse to the sale grounds?

You will need a Veterinary Health Certificate dated within 10 days of shipping.  It must include the date of the last Equine Herpes Virus vaccination and what was used, either Rhinomune or Pneumabort-K.  Keeneland requires this vaccination be within 7 to 90 days of the date of sale.

If you have a question on any of these items, please give us a call.  We are here to help make this process as easy as possible.
