Farm Manager Victor Espinoza grew up in Lagos de Moreno, a small town in Jalisco, Mexico. His initial involvement with horses was through a small family breeding and training operation in Mexico. He came to the United States in 1982 and worked for three years on different racetracks and saddlebred farms. Victor joined Brookdale in 1985. He and his wife Edith have three children: Elias,
Freddy served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1994-1998. He then worked at Santa Anita Park for trainer Randy Bradshaw. He returned to the farm in 1999 and is now the General Manager of Brookdale Farm. Joe has been with Brookdale full time since 1997. He graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Journalism and then spent four years as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. After the service, Joe worked as a racetrack groom and assistant trainer for Carl Nafzger and Todd Pletcher, respectively. Fred Seitz has been raising horses in Central Kentucky since 1974. A graduate of St. Vincent College with a BA in English, he was a Marine Corps Aviator and a Vietnam Veteran. Beginning as a farm manager, Fred then worked for Fasig-Tipton for 2 years before going out on his own by leasing a farm. He bought the beginning acreage of Brookdale in 1983. A
Ibn Hiyyan, a Brookdale 2008 Keeneland September Yearling sale grad, recently won the Play Roulette Handicap at Southwell.
Brookdale Grad DANCING IN SILKS (Black Minnaloushe), a 2005 KEENOV weanling owned by Ken Kinakin, placed in his first start since winning the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, taking 3rd in the Palos Verdes Handicap (Gr II) at Santa Anita on January 23.
2009 was a notable year for Brookdale sales graduates on the racetrack. DANCING IN SILKS, a 2005 Keeneland November weanling sold by Brookdale, highlighted the year with a victory in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1).
